With the qualification of Italy and the Netherlands confirmed, 15 out of the 20 teams for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 have now been finalized. Both teams secured their spots through the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifiers. While the Netherlands has featured in past ICC events, Italy has stunned the cricketing world by qualifying for any stage of a Cricket World Cup for the very first time.
Let’s take a look at the 15 teams that have already booked their tickets for the T20 World Cup 2026 and where the remaining five spots will come from.
India and Sri Lanka will host the T20 World Cup 2026, and as host nations, both have received direct entry.
Apart from them, the top 7 teams from the previous T20 World Cup have also qualified directly. These include Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies.
Additionally, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan earned their spots based on the ICC T20 rankings.
These 12 teams qualified without needing to play any qualifying matches. The remaining 8 spots were to be filled through regional qualifiers.
Canada became the 13th team to qualify by winning the Americas Qualifier. Now, Italy and the Netherlands have made it through the Europe Qualifier, taking the count to 15.
Of the remaining 5 spots, 2 will be filled through the Africa Qualifier, while 3 will come from the Asia and East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifiers.
