The World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025) is currently being played in England. The Indian team has somehow managed to reach the semi-finals. Out of five matches, India won only one, but due to three points and a slightly better net run rate, they secured a spot in the top four. Now, the big problem is that in the semi-final India will face Pakistan – the same Pakistan against whom India refused to play during the league stage. This has now put Team India in a huge dilemma.
To qualify for the semi-finals, India needed to improve their net run rate in their last league match against the West Indies. With this in mind, India Champions’ captain Yuvraj Singh won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian bowlers restricted West Indies to 144 runs. The equation was simple: if India chased down the target before 14.1 overs, they would qualify for the semi-finals.
Indian batters put on a strong show and chased down the target in just 13.2 overs, sealing a spot in the semi-finals. Stuart Binny led from the front with a blistering 50 runs off 21 balls and had earlier taken two wickets with the ball, earning him the Player of the Match award. Yusuf Pathan scored 21 runs from 7 balls, and Irfan Pathan also contributed 21 runs. Shikhar Dhawan scored 25 runs before being dismissed.
Now the big question is: will India again refuse to face Pakistan in the semi-final? During the league stage, Indian players had boycotted the match against Pakistan due to recent differences between the two countries. Will they continue with the same stand in the semi-final? Time will tell. If the Indian players still refuse to play against Pakistan, Pakistan will get a direct entry to the final and India’s journey in the tournament will end without playing the semi-final.
