    WI vs AUS 1st Test 2025- Australia Defeats Home Team by 159 Runs

    Australia defeated West Indies by 159 runs in the first match of the three-Test series held in Barbados. Batting first, Australia managed to score 180 runs. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 190 runs, gaining a 10-run lead. However, in their second innings, Australia bounced back strongly, scoring 310 runs and setting a target of 301 runs for the hosts. West Indies were bundled out for just 141 runs in their chase. Travis Head was named Player of the Match for scoring half-centuries in both innings. This was Australia’s fourth consecutive Test win in Barbados.

    In the first innings, Australia were bowled out for 180 runs. Travis Head was the top scorer with 59 runs, hitting nine fours. Usman Khawaja contributed 47 runs, captain Pat Cummins made 28, and Beau Webster added 11. No other batter managed to reach double figures. Australia were without key players Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne in this match. For West Indies, Jayden Seales took five wickets, and Shamar Joseph claimed four. Justin Greaves took one wicket.

    West Indies replied with 190 runs in their first innings, securing a 10-run lead. Captain Roston Chase scored 44 runs, and Shai Hope made 48. Keacy Carty contributed 20 runs, Brandon King scored 26, and Alzarri Joseph added 23. No other batsman could reach double digits. For Australia, Mitchell Starc took three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Beau Webster picked up two each. Nathan Lyon claimed one wicket.

    In their second innings, Australia put up a solid batting performance, scoring 310 runs and setting a target of 301 runs. They lost four early wickets for just 65 runs—Konstas scored 5, Khawaja 15, Green 15, and Josh Inglis 12. Travis Head once again played a vital role, scoring 61 runs with eight fours. He shared a 102-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Webster, who also scored a half-century (63 runs, eight fours).

    Later, Alex Carey added 65 runs with seven fours and two sixes. Cummins (9), Starc (16), and Hazlewood (12 not out) contributed at the end. For West Indies, Shamar Joseph took five wickets, Alzarri Joseph took two, while Jayden Seales, Justin Greaves, and Roston Chase took one each.

    Chasing a target of 301, West Indies were bowled out for 141 runs, handing Australia a comprehensive 159-run victory. John Campbell scored 23, Keacy Carty made 20, and Justin Greaves added 38. Interestingly, Shamar Joseph, batting at No. 10, was the top scorer with a quickfire 44 off 22 balls, including four fours and four sixes. No other batter reached double digits. Josh Hazlewood starred with five wickets, Nathan Lyon took two, while Starc and Cummins took one wicket each.
