On the back of Smriti Mandhana’s century, the Indian women’s team crushed Australia by 102 runs in the second ODI. This defeat marked Australia Women’s biggest loss in terms of runs in ODI cricket history. In this match, Smriti Mandhana and her partner Pratika Rawal created history by registering a massive world record. The duo became the first-ever pair in women’s ODI cricket history to score more than 1000 runs in a single calendar year. Earlier, the record for most runs in a year was held by Australia’s Belinda Clark and Lisa Keightley, who achieved the feat in 2000.

Against Australia in the second ODI, Mandhana and Rawal shared a 70-run stand. With this, the pair crossed the 1000-run mark in ODIs in 2025 and etched their names in history.

Most Runs by a Pair in a Calendar Year (Women’s ODIs):

    • 1028 – Smriti Mandhana & Pratika Rawal (2025)
    • 905 – Belinda Clark & Lisa Keightley (2000)
    • 834 – Suzie Bates & Rachel Priest (2015)
    • 775 – Rachael Haynes & Alyssa Healy (2022)
    • 708 – Lizelle Lee & Laura Wolvaardt (2021)

How did the India vs Australia 2nd ODI unfold?

After losing the toss, Team India came out to bat first and put up a strong total of 292 runs, thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s century. She scored a brilliant 117 off 91 balls, smashing 14 fours and 4 towering sixes. Apart from her, Deepti Sharma contributed 40 runs. Chasing 293, Australia’s innings crumbled and they were bowled out for just 190. Kranti Gaud was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets.
