Indian opener Rohit Sharma has spoken for the first time about the Australia tour after losing the ODI captaincy. In his last match as captain, Rohit led Team India to the Champions Trophy title, but now he will be part of the ODI squad only as a batsman. The three-match ODI series against Australia will begin on 19 October, with Shubman Gill leading the Indian team. Meanwhile, Rohit has shared his thoughts on the upcoming series, saying he enjoys playing against Australia.

During the CEAT Awards held in Mumbai on Tuesday, the “Hitman” looked slim and stylish. He received a special award for guiding India to the Champions Trophy victory in March. When asked about the Australia tour, Rohit said,

“I love playing against Australia. I love going there. The people in Australia really enjoy cricket, and I also love playing cricket there.”

Rohit Sharma has an impressive record against Australia. In ODI matches played in Australia, he has scored 4 fifties and 6 centuries so far.

Having retired from T20 Internationals and Test cricket, Rohit now remains active only in ODIs. His dream is to win the ODI World Cup for India, but age is not on his side. The next World Cup will be held in 2027, by which time Rohit will be 40 years old. Although he has started working on his fitness, it remains to be seen what the captain, coach, team management, and selectors think about his future. Reports suggest that this Australia tour might be his last international tour.
