The BCCI on Tuesday announced the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. The 15-member team was selected by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as captain, while Shubman Gill will serve as vice-captain. The Asia Cup, in T20 format, will begin on 9 September in the UAE. Meanwhile, later today the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 squad for India will also be announced. The women’s selection committee will first pick the team for the ODI series against Australia, followed by the World Cup squad.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said during the press conference that the last time Shubman Gill played T20s, he was the vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal was unfortunate to miss out. Abhishek Sharma has been in good form and also provides some bowling options. As for Shreyas Iyer, Agarkar clarified that it wasn’t his fault, but only 15 players could be picked.
