India and England are set to lock horns in the 4th Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Old Trafford in Manchester. The match is scheduled to begin on 23rd July, and India is currently struggling with a series of injuries. The Indian team trails in the series, with just one win compared to England’s two. If the Shubman Gill-led side loses the 4th Test, the series will be out of their reach. However, the road to victory appears challenging, as several key Indian players are injured and are unlikely to feature in the playing XI.
The news has just broken that Nitish Kumar Reddy has suffered a ligament injury during a gym session and has been ruled out of the series. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh sustained a hand injury during a practice session and has also been ruled out of the 4th Test. India’s key player, Rishabh Pant, is dealing with a finger injury he sustained during the 3rd Test at Lord’s. He is currently under the supervision of the medical team, and a final decision on his participation in the 4th Test will be made on 22nd July. Jasprit Bumrah, who has already played two matches in the series, is expected to feature in only one of the remaining two Tests due to workload management.
India is in all sorts of trouble and will need some inspiring performances in the 4th Test to lift themselves. Shardul Thakur and Dhruv Jurel could be included in the playing XI at Old Trafford. Recently, Anshul Kamboj was also added to India’s squad for the 4th Test and may be in line for a debut. Karun Nair has shown glimpses of good form with the bat but has failed to convert starts into big scores. The 4th Test could be his final opportunity for redemption.
