The fifth Test match between India and England is being played at The Oval in London. England scored 247 runs in their first innings and lost all their wickets. They got a 23-run lead over India. Zak Crawley was the top scorer for England with 64 runs. For India, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 4 wickets each.
India started their second innings strongly. KL Rahul got out after scoring 7 runs from 28 balls. Sai Sudharsan also didn’t last long and was out for 11 runs from 29 balls. Gus Atkinson took his wicket LBW. By the end of the second day, India had scored 75 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten on 51, and Akash Deep is with him on 4 runs. India now has a 52-run lead.
The first session of Day 2 belonged to England. India lost 4 wickets in the first 30 minutes and were all out for 224 runs. They only added 20 runs to their overnight score of 204/6. Karun Nair scored a half-century for India. England’s Atkinson took 5 wickets.
England started well in their first innings, but India made a strong comeback and bowled them out for 247. After the tea break, England lost their eighth wicket when Gus Atkinson was out for 11 runs, taken by Prasidh Krishna. Siraj bowled Harry Brook on the score of 247 to end England’s innings. Brook scored 53 runs from 64 balls, hitting five fours and a six. Injured Chris Woakes did not come to bat.
For India, Mohammed Siraj took 4 wickets for 86 runs in 16.2 overs. Prasidh Krishna also took 4 wickets, giving 62 runs in 16 overs. Akash Deep took 1 wicket.
