Team India suffered a major setback in the first innings as star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was injured and had to leave the field. He hurt his leg and was seen in immense pain. The fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England is being played at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. England won the toss and invited India to bat first.
Injury to Rishabh Pant’s Foot
On the opening day of the Manchester Test, Rishabh Pant sustained a serious injury to his right foot, which led to significant swelling. Blood was also seen coming from his foot. He had to be taken off the field in an ambulance, as he was unable to stand. Notably, Pant was also injured in the previous Test match, where he hurt his finger. Following that injury, Dhruv Jurel was seen taking over the wicketkeeping duties. Now, Pant has suffered another blow, this time to his foot.
Pant was batting on 37 off 47 when he attempted a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes. Unfortunately, he failed to make proper contact with the ball, and it struck him hard on the foot. As a result, Pant was injured and unable to walk. An ambulance had to be called onto the field to take him off. This appears to be a serious injury, and India could very well be without Rishabh Pant for the remainder of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
