The third Test match of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is scheduled to be played from 10th July at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. India recently leveled the series by registering a thumping victory in the second Test at Edgbaston. The exciting match featured several close calls by the umpires, which even prompted animated reactions from players in the media. During the game, Chris Woakes remarked that the umpire’s call should be removed from cricket altogether.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has already announced the match officials for the 3rd Test. Saikat, who impressed with his umpiring in the second Test, will continue his role in the third match. However, England may not be entirely pleased with this decision, as many of Saikat’s calls in Edgbaston went in India’s favour.
Chris Gaffaney, who officiated as an on-field umpire in both the first and second Tests, will not be part of the match officials for the third Test. Paul Reiffel, who stood alongside Gaffaney in the first Test, will return to serve as one of the on-field umpires at Lord’s. England might welcome Reiffel’s return, as several of his decisions in the first Test were seen to favour the hosts.
The upcoming clash at Lord’s is shaping up to be an exciting contest.
