Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. He scored centuries in both innings of the first Test and followed it up with a half-century in the second match. With these performances, Pant has become India’s second-highest run-scorer and the third-highest overall in the series so far. He is also on the verge of becoming India’s all-time six-hitter in Test cricket — and he doesn’t need to do anything extraordinary to achieve that.
Pant is currently just five sixes away from becoming the Indian player with the most sixes in Test cricket. If he hits five more sixes in the remaining three matches of the series, he will surpass everyone to top this elite list. At present, he is third among Indian batsmen in terms of most Test sixes. Ahead of him are Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag. Sehwag has held this record for a long time, but now it seems it’s about to be broken.
Virender Sehwag hit 90 sixes in his Test career for India, while Rohit Sharma ended his Test career with 88 sixes. Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, has already smashed 86 sixes in just 45 Test matches. With just five more maximums, he will become the top Indian in terms of six-hitting in Test cricket.
To enter the list of top five six-hitters in the world in Test cricket, Pant needs only 13 more sixes. As for the ongoing series, Pant has already hit 13 sixes in four innings, making him the leading six-hitter of the series so far. The third match of the India vs England Test series is scheduled to be played from 10th July 2025 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. This is where, Rishabh will have the opportunity to go past Sehwag and Rohit’s tally of sixes.
