There have been major changes in the latest ICC Test player rankings released on Wednesday. Indian bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have made significant jumps to achieve their career-best ratings. Siraj now has 674 rating points and has climbed 12 places to reach the 15th position. Krishna has jumped 25 spots to reach 59th.
Both bowlers delivered outstanding performances in the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval. Siraj took a total of 9 wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings, helping India to a thrilling 6-run victory. Krishna claimed 8 wickets in the match.
England pacers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue also achieved career-best rankings after picking up 8 wickets each in the Oval Test. Atkinson has broken into the top 10 for the first time and is now jointly ranked 10th. Tongue has moved up 14 spots to reach 46th.
India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top with 889 rating points despite not playing in the Oval Test. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is second with 851 points, followed by Australia’s captain Pat Cummins with 838. New Zealand’s Matt Henry has moved up three places to fourth with a career-best 817 rating points after taking 9 wickets in the first Test against Zimbabwe, which New Zealand won by 9 wickets.
There have also been changes in the batting rankings. India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has re-entered the top five after climbing three spots to fifth with 792 points. He scored a century in the second innings of the final Test. Meanwhile, India’s captain Shubman Gill has dropped four places to 13th after scoring just 32 runs in the Oval Test. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has risen four places to take the 9th spot. England’s veteran Joe Root remains the No.1 Test batter with 908 points. His teammate Harry Brook has moved up to second with 868 points after scoring a century at The Oval. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has slipped to third with 858 points.
