Australia has announced their squads for the T20 and ODI series against South Africa to be played next month. Some senior players have returned to the team, including the explosive batsman Travis Head and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. However, Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins will not take part in this tour because of his busy schedule. The ODI team also has a new face who performed well in the recent T20 series against West Indies.
Cricket Australia has selected 14 players each for both the T20 and ODI series. The T20 series will begin on 10 August, and the tour will end with the last ODI on 24 August. After clean sweeping West Indies 5–0 in the T20 series, Australia has made a few changes to their squad.
All-rounder Matt Short has made a comeback, while attacking batsman Mitch Owen has been included in both squads after an impressive performance against West Indies. Sean Abbott, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tanveer Sangha, Cooper Connolly and Aaron Hardie have been dropped after the West Indies series. Chief selector George Bailey said that the team is preparing for the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka next year.
