Asia Cup 2025’s biggest superstar, Abhishek Sharma, has now created a new world record in the ICC T20I Rankings. The Player of the Tournament in the Asia Cup, Abhishek Sharma, had already been the No.1 ranked T20I batter for quite some time, and now he has achieved another historic milestone. He has become the highest-rated batter in T20I cricket history, breaking records previously held by legends like Virat Kohli.
No player in T20I history had ever crossed the 920-rating mark in ICC rankings, but Abhishek Sharma has now reached 931 rating points, becoming the first batter to achieve this feat. Until now, the highest rating belonged to England’s Dawid Malan, who had 919 points. Abhishek has now surpassed him to sit at the top.
Suryakumar Yadav is placed third with 912 points, while Virat Kohli has slipped to fourth with 909 points. Former Australia captain Aaron Finch stands fifth with 904 points, and Pakistan’s former skipper Babar Azam holds sixth place with 900 points.

The Asia Cup has seen three editions so far, but before 2025, no batter had ever scored 300 runs in a single season. Abhishek Sharma broke that record as well, scoring 314 runs in 7 matches with an unbelievable strike rate of 200. While such a strike rate is occasionally seen in individual matches, this was the first time in history that a player maintained such an explosive scoring rate across an entire tournament.
