New Zealand’s star opener Finn Allen created havoc in the opening match of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. He smashed a sensational century off just 34 balls, grabbing everyone’s attention. This knock is now the fastest century in the history of the tournament. Thanks to his explosive innings, San Francisco Unicorns posted a massive total of 269 runs in their allotted 20 overs against Washington Freedom.

Allen went on to score a breathtaking 151 runs off just 51 balls, which included 5 fours and a record-breaking 19 towering sixes. With this, he set a new world record for the most sixes (19) in a single T20 innings, surpassing the previous record of 18 sixes jointly held by Chris Gayle and Sahil Chauhan.

Chris Gayle had hit 18 sixes while playing for Rangpur Riders in the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League, and Sahil Chauhan equalled it in 2024.

Allen also broke the record for the fastest century in MLC history, overtaking Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies, who had scored a hundred off 40 balls in this tournament earlier.

Finn Allen eventually got out after scoring 151 runs off 51 balls, caught by Glenn Phillips on the bowling of Mitchell Owen. He reached 150 runs in just 49 balls, making him the fastest player in T20 history to reach that milestone.

Thanks to Allen’s record-breaking knock, San Francisco posted 269/3, the highest team total in MLC history. Apart from Allen, Sanjay Krishnamurthy and Hasan Khan also played vital roles, scoring 36 and 38 runs respectively, at blistering strike rates of 180 and 211.11.
