The Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7, with India and Sri Lanka joining hands as co-hosts for the month-long tournament. The ICC announced the groups, draws, and full match schedule during its official unveiling on Tuesday, where Rohit Sharma was declared the official brand ambassador of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
One of the biggest highlights is the India vs Pakistan clash, which will take place on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan are scheduled to play all their matches in Sri Lanka for this edition.
The tournament, held every two years, is organised by the ICC and returns for its 10th edition in 2026. This will be one of the largest T20 World Cups, both in scale and participation.
A total of 20 teams will compete for the title, divided into four groups with five teams each. The expanded format ensures more matches and greater competition across the early stages.
India have been drawn in Group A along with Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia and the USA. With traditional rivalries and emerging teams in the mix, the group promises exciting early battles.
Defending champions India will open their campaign against the USA on February 7. The match will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, giving India a strong home start to their title defence.

Former champions Australia headline Group B, joining co-hosts Sri Lanka along with Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman in what promises to be a highly competitive pool. Meanwhile, Group C brings together two-time winners England and West Indies, paired with Bangladesh, Nepal and debutants Italy.
Italy’s qualification marks a significant milestone, as they step into the T20 World Cup arena for the very first time—an achievement that reflects the rapid global expansion of the sport.
All 20 participating teams will battle across 55 matches in the 2026 edition.
Each team will play every other side in its group once, setting the stage for a closely fought round-robin phase.
The top two teams from every group will then progress to the Super Eight stage.
Here, the qualifiers will be split into two groups of four, where they will compete for a coveted place in the semi-finals.
The group stage spans from February 7 to 20, offering two weeks of intense cricketing action.
Following that, the Super Eight phase begins on February 21 and will run through March 1.
Crucial knockout fixtures await in the first week of March, with the semi-finals scheduled for March 4 and 5. The tournament will culminate in the final on March 8, where a new champion could emerge—or history could repeat itself.
Venue arrangements for the latter stages depend entirely on Pakistan’s progress. If Pakistan qualify for the first semi-final and the final, both matches will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. If they do not advance, Kolkata and Ahmedabad will host the first semi-final and final, respectively.
