India lost the first Test match of the ongoing Test series against South Africa by 30 runs. After this defeat, the team is now fully focused on the second Test, which will be played in Guwahati from 22 November. Before this match, a major update has come regarding the fitness of India’s captain Shubman Gill, who suffered an injury during the opening Test. Meanwhile, both teams have added one new player each to their squads.
Two Star Players Added to the Series
According to a report by Cricbuzz, young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been added to India’s squad for the second Test. He has returned after being released from India A’s white-ball squad in Rajkot. Nitish Kumar Reddy was also part of the Indian squad for the first Test but was released before the match. Now he has been brought back into the team. As an all-rounder who can bat and bowl pace, he is one of the strong contenders to play the final Test.
On the other hand, South Africa are also facing injury concerns. Their star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada suffered a rib injury during training and missed the first Test. As his cover, Lungi Ngidi has been added to the squad. Ngidi has already arrived in India and joined the South African team. He last played a Test for South Africa in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s against Australia.

Big Update on Shubman Gill
The BCCI is being extremely cautious regarding the fitness of captain Shubman Gill. During the first Test, Gill experienced a neck spasm, after which he was admitted to Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata. He was discharged on Sunday night. His condition is being closely monitored by BCCI and local doctors. Gill is expected to fly with the team to Guwahati on 19 November, but the final decision on whether he will play will be taken a day before the match.
