Glenn Maxwell Picks His All-Time ODI XI: 6 Indians, 5 Australians, and No English Player

Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was recently asked to pick his all-time ODI XI combining players from Australia, England, and India. In his selection, Maxwell chose the highest number of players from India — six in total — including legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. The remaining five players came from Australia. Interestingly, he didn’t pick a single English player, completely snubbing the England team.

For the opening pair, Maxwell went with Indian greats Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. This decision meant that several legendary Australian openers like David Warner, Matthew Hayden, and Adam Gilchrist missed out. At number three, Maxwell picked Virat Kohli, calling him the best ODI batsman of his generation.

In the middle order, Ricky Ponting took the number four spot, while Michael Bevan was placed at number five. This meant that English stars such as Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes were left out.

For the all-rounder’s role, Maxwell selected Shane Watson, leaving out big names like Yuvraj Singh, Andrew Symonds, and Kapil Dev. As for the wicketkeeper, he went with MS Dhoni over England’s Jos Buttler and Australia’s Adam Gilchrist.

Maxwell’s bowling attack featured some of the most legendary names in world cricket. His pace trio included Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath, and Jasprit Bumrah. In the spin department, Maxwell surprised everyone by choosing India’s Anil Kumble instead of Australia’s Shane Warne.

Glenn Maxwell’s All-Time ODI XI: Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Michael Bevan, Shane Watson, MS Dhoni (wk), Brett Lee, Anil Kumble, Jasprit Bumrah, Glenn McGrath.
