The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) later this month in Mumbai. During this meeting, elections will be conducted for the positions of President and Vice-President. According to sources, a high-level meeting will be organised before the AGM, where senior board officials will participate. In this closed-door meeting, the names of the candidates for the upcoming elections are expected to be finalised.
For the positions of Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer, the existing office-bearers are likely to continue. However, the BCCI has not yet finalised a name for the post of President. The new president could either be a former cricketer or an experienced cricket administrator. The final decision regarding this will be taken during the high-level meeting.
As per sources, there are three possible scenarios for Rajeev Shukla. He could continue as the Vice-President of the BCCI, be appointed as the IPL Chairman, or even get promoted to become the BCCI President. However, the most likely outcome is that he will retain his current position as Vice-President, although reports suggest there is a 60-40 chance in his favour for the President’s role as well.

Regarding the next IPL Chairman, changes are also expected. Former BCCI Treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry is being considered a strong contender for the position. Another name under discussion is Abhishek Dalmiya from Bengal, who is currently a member of the IPL Governing Council.
Recently, Roger Binny stepped down as BCCI President after crossing the age of 70. As per the BCCI constitution, individuals above the age of 70 are not allowed to hold any official position within the board. At present, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla is serving as the Acting President in Binny’s absence.
The BCCI AGM is expected to take place in the last week of September, and the official notice for the meeting will likely be issued within the next two to three days.
