Who is Auqib Nabi? This question started trending in cricket circles when this bowler achieved something extraordinary in the Duleep Trophy — not just a hat-trick but a double hat-trick. A double hat-trick means taking four wickets in four consecutive deliveries. Auqib Nabi accomplished this remarkable feat while playing for North Zone against Central Zone.
In the 53rd over, Nabi dismissed three batters on the last three balls to complete his hat-trick. He first took the wicket of Virat Singh, followed by Manishi and Mukhtar Hussain.
With this performance, Auqib Nabi became only the third bowler in Duleep Trophy history to take a hat-trick, after Kapil Dev (1978–79) and Sairaj Bahutule (2001).
However, Nabi didn’t stop there. In his very next over, on the first ball, he dismissed Suraj Sandhu, completing his double hat-trick — four wickets in four consecutive balls. With this, he became the first bowler in Duleep Trophy history to achieve this rare milestone.
Auqib Nabi also claimed the prized wicket of Mohammed Shami and finished his spell with 5 wickets for just 28 runs in 10.1 overs.
