Before the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket team has faced a major setback. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 9th September, but even before that, the team’s main sponsor, Dream11, has pulled out. With less than 20 days left for the Asia Cup, India currently has no primary jersey sponsor. If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fails to find a new sponsor before the tournament, the Indian team may have to play in the Asia Cup without a main jersey sponsor.
Why Dream11 refused to continue sponsoring the Indian team
Dream11 has decided not to renew its contract with BCCI. The reason behind this decision is the introduction of the Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Bill, 2025, which has been passed by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The bill imposes a ban on games involving real money, which directly affects Dream11’s core business model.
According to an NDTV report, BCCI is actively searching for a new jersey sponsor before the Asia Cup begins. However, if no deal is finalised in time, the Indian cricket team might compete in the tournament without any major sponsor on their jerseys.

Dream11 became India’s main sponsor in 2023
Dream11 replaced Byju’s as the main sponsor of the Indian cricket team in 2023. The company had signed a three-year deal worth ₹358 crore, under which ₹3 crore was paid for each match played in India and ₹1 crore for matches played abroad. The Indian team wore jerseys featuring the Dream11 logo for the first time in July 2023, during the Test series against West Indies.
